Inspired by Dorothea Lange's Depression-era animal photography, this painting series explores systems of control and exploitation and the parallels between female existence and farm animals, as both are expected to provide labor, nourishment and comfort for the sake of others. Confronting viewers with uncomfortable and casual displays of control, these images critique the normalization of the commodified female body.
